Embryo donation blood tests

There would be an appointment with one of the nurses to complete the necessary consent forms, provide us with proof of identification and have some blood tests taken. We test for:

• HIV Cytomegalovirus
• Hepatitis B Syphilis
• Hepatitis C Karyotype(your genetic make-up)
• Blood Group , Cystic Fibrosis (to see if you are a carrier)
• Human T Cell Lymphotropic Viruses (HTLV 1 & 2)

Other tests may be required depending on a potential donor’s ethnic group for conditions such as Tay-Sachs (Eastern European Jewish), sickle cell anaemia (African / Afro-Caribbean) and β-thalassaemia (Mediterranean / Middle Eastern / Asian).
